Once Again Modi Wave In India
The citizens of one of the world’s largest democratic country, India, gave their verdict after five week long voting process. It was a decisive victory for the Hindu nationalist Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) with 303 seats in India’s 543- seat Parliament. With two consecutive victory since the 2014 elections, the BJP could be seen as India’s current dominant party leaving behind its rival Indian National Congress (Congress) with only 52 seats. Although the pre-election polls foresaw BJP’s victory, it did not anticipate the victory with such a huge level of supremacy.
Even after huge criticism for a number of policy decisions and spotty economic records affecting employment and commodity prices adversely, the Modi Government stood strong especially in rural constituencies. With the BJP taking hold again we expect ‘Make In India’ to be on rise once again which will let India have better financial ties with its sister cities and financial allies. IIBC welcomes the Modi wave once again and looks forward to stronger business ties with India under the supervision of Modi Government.
