Consul General’s Visit to Indianapolis
On 17th May 2019, IIBC in association with IAI and IHSC welcomed Consulate General of India, Chicago Mr. Sudhakar Dalela on his first visit to Indianapolis. The reception was hosted at India Palace Banquet Hall, Lafayette Road. The evening was marked by the presence of Raju Chinthala - Founder and President of Indiana India Business Council, Chandra Krishnamaneni, Sravan Patharla, Dr. Ajay Ponugoti, Ramu Chinthala, Sivakumar Vavilala, Shash Goyal, Shanti Karthik, Ravi Sajja and Rajan Arora. Mr. Dalela was honored and felicitated with a shawl by former Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard. The Consul of Mexico in USA, Luis E Franco, who worked in India in Mexico Embassy for six years also graced the event. Mr. Dalela spoke of huge economic growth in India and the various business opportunities it opens for both the US and India. He also promoted healthy partnership and friendship between the two nations.
Furthermore, Mr. Dalela committed that the Consulate General in Chicago will work towards providing efficient, transparent and fast services. The evening witnessed the beautiful melody sung by Danish Punjabi singer, Anita Lerche. She was commended by Mr. Dalela for singing Mahatma Gandhi’s favorite ‘bhajan' and was also invited to participate in the 150th birth anniversary celebration event of Mahatma Gandhi to be organized in Chicago. Mr. Dalela was invited to witness Indy 500 by Mayor Greg Ballard which he gracefully accepted. Mr. Dalela also appreciated the efforts of Mayor Brainard of Carmel to support India-US ties in Carmel city. Mayor Brainard gave Mr. Dalela a tour to the beautiful city of Carmel which houses the vivacious Indian American community.
